The Church choir provides the music for the services, mainly morning services on a Sunday. We have a wide ranging repertoire from the up-to-date to church music from the 16th century.  From time to time, we organise special events – for instance, at Christmas.  We particularly enjoy choral harmony, and we have four parts – soprano, contralto, tenor and bass..  The choir at present has 16 active members.  We are very ably led by our organist and choirmaster, Mr Donald Kennedy.  In addition to our musical lives,  we also meet socially.

Our mission is to celebrate our faith and enhance the worship of the Church through music and song.

The choir meets on a Thursday evening in the minor hall

Immortal, impossible, God only knows

How tenors and basses, sopranos, altos

At service on Sunday are rarely the same

As those, who on Thursday, to choir practice came

Unready, unable to sight-read the notes

Not counting, nor blending they tighten their throats

The descant so piercing is soaring above

The melody only a mother could love

They have a Director but no one knows why

No one in the choir deigns to turn him an eye

It’s clear by his waving he wants them to look

But each of them stands with their nose in a book

Despite the offences, the music rings out

The folks in the pews are enraptured no doubt

Their faces are blissful, their thoughts are so deep

But it is no wonder, for they are asleep.
